Slow Cooking
A low, patient flame over many hours. Heat that is rushed burns the milk solids and takes the aroma with it — so we never rush it.
Traditional Ghee & Dairies
“Tradition in Every Drop. Memories in Every Spoon”
Some things should not be hurried. We still make ghee the slow way — milk into curd, curd into butter, butter into ghee, over a patient flame in small batches. Then we let it rest and cool naturally for 48 hours, because that is when the grain forms and the aroma settles. What reaches your kitchen is not a product we invented; it is one we simply refused to change.
Our Process
Every jar of SSV follows the same journey our families have followed for generations. It takes longer. That is precisely the point.
Step One
We begin with fresh, full-cream milk, gently warmed and handled with care from the very first hour.
Step Two
The milk is cultured and left to set overnight — unhurried, the way curd was always meant to form.
Step Three
The set curd is churned by the traditional bilona method until the butter separates and rises on its own.
Step Four
Butter is simmered slowly over a low flame, then cooled naturally for 48 hours so the grain and aroma settle.
“Modern life teaches us to look for shortcuts. Traditional food teaches us something different: give it time.”
The SSV Difference
Other brands can sell ghee. We want to preserve the feeling behind traditionally made ghee. We don't want our difference to be something you only read on our label — we want you to experience it.
A low, patient flame over many hours. Heat that is rushed burns the milk solids and takes the aroma with it — so we never rush it.
We make what we can watch. Each batch is small enough that one pair of hands stays with it from milk to jar.
No forced chilling. Ghee is left to cool on its own for two full days, which is when the grain forms and the texture settles.
Ask us anything — the source, the batch, the day it was made. If we cannot show you how it was made, we would rather not sell it.
Clean vessels, clean hands, clean space — checked at every stage, not just at the end. It is the least a family kitchen deserves.
Nothing added to imitate a smell. The aroma you get is the one the process gives — and you will know it the moment the jar opens.
More Than a Product
It was the smell that told you someone was cooking for you. It was the spoon over hot rice on an ordinary evening. We are not selling a jar — we are trying to keep something alive.
The vessel on the low flame, the waiting, the first spoon offered before anyone else was served. Some kitchens never really close.
The sweets that only appeared once a year, the lamp lit at dusk. Ghee has always been how our homes mark what matters.
Not a special occasion — a Tuesday. A spoon in the dal, a little on the last roti. The small comforts a family runs on.
A method learned by watching, not reading. We carry it forward so the next kitchen has something worth inheriting.
“We are not trying to convince everyone. We are trying to find the people who believe that traditional food is worth protecting.”
Trust & Quality
Anyone can print a promise on a label. These are the six things we actually do, every single batch, whether or not anyone is watching.
Nothing about how we make ghee is a secret. Ask, visit, or watch — the method is the product.
Colour, grain, aroma and texture are inspected batch by batch. Anything that falls short never leaves.
Food safety standards, handling norms and storage rules are met in full — quietly, as a baseline rather than a badge.
Each batch is recorded, so we can tell you when it was made and where its milk came from.
If something is not right, we want to hear it first-hand. Families have corrected us before, and we changed.
What we make ends up in front of children and elders. We hold ourselves to what we would serve at our own table.
From Our Families
We would rather let the families who cook with SSV every week tell you what it is like than describe it ourselves.
The smell when the jar opens is the one from my mother's kitchen. I had stopped expecting to find it again.
I asked which batch mine came from and they told me the day it was made. No one else I buy from can answer that.
The grain is right — it sets the way ghee is supposed to set. You can tell nobody rushed it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Because we remember what your grandmother knew.
In a world racing toward faster, cheaper, and more convenient, SSV Ghee & Dairies is anchored to something timeless: the belief that some things should never be rushed.
Because you deserve better than what you've been settling for.
Let's be honest: Most ghee in the market is a product of convenience, not care. When you buy our ghee, you're not just purchasing a commodity—you're making a statement.
We solve the ghost problem: the haunting absence of authenticity in commercial ghee.
